People watching in Paris.

Paris is an interesting city to people watch. Yesterday we counted the number of over weight people we saw and we counted nine, with 7 of them at Starbucks. Non-Caucasian they really impressed me.  Dressed very nicely no thug dressing that I saw.  Art students dressed normally, not haveing coloured hair that screams' look at me im an artist'.  Back to the comment on overweight, I wonder if it comes from the fact that most walk or ride a bike.  Maybe the fact they buy fresh meals from the market.  I bought my som some english cucumber s and I had some oranges,   which were great.

National institute for the deaf in Paris.

Today we visited tne national institute for the Deaf.  It was a very interesting place.  One room we went into appeared to be the library and it was really small.   I think it could have been the library for the history of the school since its beginning go back to 1760.  The gym area had basketball and rock climbing walls.  Below the gym was a small soccer area.  We are currently on a train to the chateau de Versailles.

Hello from Paris,

Its been a couple of days since we have been here and I thought I should be blogging this.  Paris has this extensive subway system and we travel by train or walked everywhere.   My feet are killing me. Great place for taking pictures, but I am not to sure about shooting street in Paris.

5 things not to have in your portfolio

On The Grid, Scott Kelby had laid out the 5 things you don't want to have in your Portfolio.

  1. Cats. - These are OK for social networks but not your portfolio.
  2. Homeless People
  3. Dead trees, tree stumps. - you may have seen a picture once of a dead tree, but what made it special?
  4. Rail Road Tracks
  5. Flowers
All of these are considered easy, you can find them any where.  It is considered low hanging fruit, your not trying to get something unique. If you take pictures like this, the question is do you want to be a great photographer?
Great Photographers do what it takes to get the shot.  What does that really mean:
  •  Location, location, location - You need to go someplace that is different or out of the ordinary.  So when your on vacation and you find that out of the way spot that has something interesting you have your spot.
  • Time - Hopefully you have the luxury of time.  You need to come back to the location at sunrise or sunset.  You will have the best light at these times.  The one problem you may encounter is when you get up early for sunrise, you could end up with a cloudy or overcast morning.  This will create a gray light that would be pretty flat.
  • Learn composition - Learn how to setup the shot and not have stuff that would detract from the photo.  You don't want a lot of clear shy if the picture is about a tomb stone.
If you don't watch The Grid you really should, its a very good and informative program.

Spring is in the air

Well it's that time of year where I get to start thinking about my favorite past time. Growing hot peppers in Minnesota. This year I ordered a bumper crop that I hope all come in. The seed I have ordered are Ghost Pepper, Giant Ghost, Caribbean Blend, Chocolate Habanero, Pumpkin Habanero, Scotch Bonnet, Tasmanian Habanero, White Habanero, Jamaican Habanero, Golden Habanero and Spicy Mustard, Chile's, Italian Long Hots, and Giant Syrian Tomato's. I have been told that the Italian Long Hots are great in tuna. Now I am sure you are wondering where do I get all these great peppers? Well I found this great site called Pepper Joe's, If you like hot he has the seeds. If you love tomatoes there is another great site Penny's Tomatoes, they have every kind you can think of. So stay tuned for pictures as my garden grows. While your hear Circle me on Google +, I would really appreciate it.

That Time of Year Folks!!!

Is it because Thursday is Thanksgiving? Or the next day is Black Friday? Or maybe it’s because you have 4 days off of work, if you’re not in retail?

Nope, it's time for the ABA to pull out all the stops and have the Grand National Races.  This is the big weekend were kids 6 to 50+ and Pro's come to see who the best in the nation are.  They have been racing all year on out-side tracks in the summer and Barns in the winter.  Everything they have worked for comes down to this weekend.

This will be my first year attending and with everyone I know buzzing about it you can’t help but get caught up in the hype.  This year the Grand’s will be held in Tulsa and I am kind of surprised that I have a room at the Wyndham Tulsa Hotel and it’s only $69 a night.  Wait till ya read that post after I see the room.

My son and nephew will be racing in the 15I and 13I class, I am hoping they do well with how big of an event this is.  Both boys have been racing and practicing all summer and even ended up with a few broken bones. They both still love it and my nephew has a goal to race in every state.  My son wants to go to England for the Olympics.

This is all I have for now, watch for my pictures.

Have a happy Turkey Day, Black Friday and time resting, I will be traveling.
